Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 22 March 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "member", or "user") and WASL ("we", "us", or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the WASL website, membership platform, community spaces, events, and any related services (together, the "Services").
By visiting our website, applying for membership, creating an account, or using any part of the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
For details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
1. About WASL & Acceptance of Terms
- WASL is a curated private membership platform for Muslims who want to connect with like-minded people through structured meetups, networking, and community experiences.
- These Terms apply to all products, services, and online properties operated under the WASL brand, including our website, onboarding forms, and community spaces.
- By accessing or using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
- If you use the Services on behalf of another person or organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind them to these Terms.
2. Eligibility & Membership
- You must be at least 18 years old to use WASL. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
- WASL is a selective, curated community. Membership is subject to application and approval at our sole discretion. We may decline, pause, or revoke membership without obligation to provide reasons, within applicable law.
- Membership is personal and non-transferable. You may not sell, assign, or share your membership or account with others.
- WASL is a Muslim-focused community. By applying and participating, you confirm that you are comfortable being part of a community centred on Muslim values and identity.
3. Description of Services
WASL's Services may include, for example:
- Reviewing and approving membership applications
- Onboarding flows and collection of member information
- Member matching and introductions
- Access to other members' profiles and community spaces
- Organisation of in-person and online meetups and events
- Group chats and community spaces hosted by WASL
- Communications about your account, events, and community updates
We may add, modify, or remove features and services at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee any specific number of events, matches, or introductions.
4. Account Registration & Security
- To access member-only areas, you must create an account and provide accurate, current information (including your email, phone number, and other onboarding details).
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and are responsible for all activity under your account.
- You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access or misuse of your account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that: provide false, misleading, or incomplete information; breach these Terms or our Privacy Policy; create risk or harm for other members or for WASL.
5. Membership Fees, Subscriptions & Billing
- WASL operates on a recurring subscription model (for example, monthly), as clearly shown on our pricing and checkout pages.
- By starting a paid membership and providing payment details, you authorise us and our payment provider (such as Stripe) to charge your membership fee using your chosen payment method.
- Unless stated otherwise, your membership will auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- The exact price, billing cycle, currency, and any trial or promotional terms are always displayed at checkout.
We may update membership fees or billing terms. Any change will apply from your next renewal, and we will communicate material changes with reasonable notice (for example, on the site or via a message).
6. Cancellations & Refunds
- You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account or by contacting us.
- When you cancel, future renewals and charges stop. Your membership stays active until the end of the current paid period and then automatically ends.
- Apart from the guarantee below and any mandatory legal rights, membership fees are generally non-refundable, including for partial use, inactivity, or change of mind.
- However, for new members we offer a simple guarantee: give WASL a try for 2 months. If you don't find it valuable or we can't match you in your city, we'll return your membership payment for that period, provided you either (a) attended at least one meetup or (b) had no matches.
- If a payment fails or is disputed (for example, via chargeback), we may suspend or terminate your access until the issue is resolved.
7. Community Standards & Acceptable Use
To protect the community, you agree that you will not:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against any member
- Share illegal, hateful, obscene, or harmful content
- Misrepresent your identity, background, or intentions
- Use WASL to spam, solicit, or promote unrelated products or services
- Scrape, copy, or misuse member profiles, contact details, or other membership data
- Attempt to hack, disrupt, or reverse engineer any part of the Services
We may, at our discretion, remove content or suspend/terminate accounts that violate these standards or applicable law.
8. Events, Meetups & Safety
- WASL organises meetups and events, but individual interactions between members remain the responsibility of the members themselves.
- You understand that you attend all events and meetups at your own risk and are responsible for your own conduct and safety.
- WASL is not liable for the behaviour, actions, or omissions of individual members or third parties at any event, except where required by applicable law.
- We may refuse or withdraw access to events or groups where a member's behaviour is inappropriate, unsafe, or disruptive to the community.
9. User Content, Photos & Licence
"User Content" includes everything you share or submit through WASL, such as: profile information, bio, and preferences; messages, posts, and group chat content; photos and media you upload or send to us (including photos from meetups).
By submitting User Content, you:
- Confirm that you own or have rights to share that content and that it does not infringe the rights of others.
- Grant WASL a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, host, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute your content as needed to operate and improve the Services (for example, showing your profile to other members, or using selected meetup photos to showcase the community on our website, social channels, or newsletters).
- Acknowledge that certain profile fields (such as your name, city, bio, professional details, social links, and selected meetup formats) may be visible to other members inside WASL.
Photos you share with us after meetups may be used to showcase the community and events. If you later ask us not to use a specific photo that clearly identifies you, we will do our best to remove it from future use where practical.
We may access, review, and moderate User Content and group conversations where necessary to: enforce our community values; investigate reports or suspicious activity; keep the community safe; troubleshoot technical or service issues.
You remain solely responsible for your User Content.
10. Intellectual Property
- All intellectual property in the Services (including the WASL name, logo, branding, website design, code, and content we create) belongs to us or our licensors.
- We grant you a limited, revocable licence to use the Services for your personal, non-commercial purposes, in line with these Terms.
- You must not: copy, reproduce, distribute, or exploit our content beyond what is reasonably necessary to use the Services; use the WASL name, logo, or brand in a way that suggests partnership, endorsement, or official status without our written permission; build or attempt to build a competing service based on confidential or non-public aspects of WASL.
11. Third-Party Services & External Groups
- We use third-party providers—such as Stripe (payments), analytics, hosting, and communication tools—to deliver the Services. Their terms and privacy practices are separate, and your use of them is at your own risk.
- We are not responsible for the content, policies, or actions of third-party websites or services linked from or integrated with WASL.
- Members must not use WASL's name, brand, or membership data to create unofficial groups or communities that appear to be endorsed by WASL, without our prior written consent.
- If an unofficial group creates confusion, misuses the brand, or misuses membership data, we may request that it be rebranded, shut down, or transferred, and we may take further action if needed.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law: The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no guarantees that the Services will be error-free, uninterrupted, or always available. We do not guarantee any specific outcomes (personal, professional, financial, or otherwise) from your use of WASL.
Some WASL content, events, or conversations may touch on wellbeing, lifestyle, or general health topics (for example, routines, habits, or sports and activities). This information is for general informational purposes only and is not medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about any medical questions or before making major changes to your health, diet, or exercise.
13. Limitation of Liability & Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law: WASL will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from or in connection with your use of the Services. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the total membership fees you paid to WASL in the six (6) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WASL and its team from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of: your breach of these Terms; your misuse of the Services; your User Content; your interactions with other members, except where due to our own fault as required by law.
14. Termination
- You may stop using the Services and cancel your membership at any time, as set out in Section 6.
- We may suspend or terminate your access, without refund, if we reasonably believe that you: breached these Terms or our Privacy Policy; misused the Services or member data; created risk or harm for other members or for WASL.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including those on intellectual property, User Content, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will continue to apply after your membership ends.
15. Changes to These Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time.
- When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" above and may notify you via our website or other communication channels.
- Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
